Dr. Erina Suesada - Veterinarian

Erina  Suesada

Dr. Erina Suesada joined Altoona Veterinary Hospital in February 2026. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 after completing her bachelor's degree in Animal Ecology at Iowa State University in 2013.

Prior to joining Altoona, Dr. Suesada worked in both relief and associate veterinarian roles throughout central Iowa and continues to provide relief services at Van Meter Veterinary Clinic. Her professional interests include small animal medicine, feline and canine endocrinology, soft tissue surgery, and wound management. She is also a member of the AVMA and the Cornell Feline Health Center.

Originally from Japan, Dr. Suesada moved to the United States in 2007. She and her husband, who teaches biomedical sciences at Iowa State University, have a daughter who enjoys playing basketball. Their family also includes four cats and two freshwater fish. Outside of work, Dr. Suesada enjoys reading mysteries, history, and science-related books, as well as puzzles, diamond painting, fishing, and practicing Japanese martial arts, where she has earned a third-degree black belt.
