Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of a semi-annual physical examination. Regular thorough check-ups and preventive care can help avoid serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: We are an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) certified hospital. This designation is one that less than 15% of the nations veterinary hospitals can claim. Our hospital is fully equipped to provide many diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultation services to care for your pet's complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: We are equipped and capable of providing everything from routine elective surgery to more advanced procedures, all done according to AAHA surgical standards.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics and drug protocols to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: On-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. PennHip and OFA evaluation for helping determine risk of degenerative joint disease (ie. hip dysplasia) are available.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site. All of our ECGs are interpreted by board certified cardiologists to maintain the highest standard of care available.
Dentistry: Our dental services include routine cleaning and polishing, digital dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. For improved long term oral health, we also have a wide variety of dental care products/diets for home use.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Permanent identification: We offer and recommend microchip identification of all pets with the Home Again Pet identification system.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, supplements, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet(s) and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best and safest ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of many behavioral problems. Please feel free to call if you are concerned about a behavior your pet is exhibiting.
Boarding: We are happy to provide a place for your pet to stay when you have to be away. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday. Please remember to bring us your pet's vaccination/fecal exam records if performed by another provider. If you wish to bring any of your pets favorite toys or bedding, please feel free. We feed Royal Canin diets and provide bedding for all boarders.
Bathing/Grooming: We are excited to now offer full grooming services for your dog or cat. Denise and Hubbell Avenue Pet Grooming are now housed in our facility. Please call the office to set-up an appointment.
Emergency Care: We try to make ourselves available to our patients and clients as much as possible. However, if your pet is in need of urgent care during the hours we are away from the office, the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Central Iowa will be available. They are located on Creston Avenue just off of 63rd street and can be reached at (515)280-3051.
